… six months later the video went online – published by the infamous al-Furqan media department of al-Qa’ida/Iraq, it claims once again how US jets deliberately target muslim civilians. The missing (al-mafqud) pilot by the name of Gilbert T. is also “presented” after his F-16 had been shot down by the “Air Defense Division” of al-Qa’ida; it is however unclear why this video was announced in march and then went online recently – this may indeed show that the internet battle against jihadist groups is not fully out of hand. Also recently most of the radical sunni forums have been systematically shut down, in one forum the mourning of the administrator of the al-firdaws forum who had been killed in the nahr al-barid refugee camp in Lebanon was a frequently read posting.

Referring to the deaths of women and children; hal hadha dimoqratia – is this democracy. In the radical writings a lot has been published online why the democratic systems are anti-islamic and why for example participation in elections is forbidden – the most prominent anti-democratic fatwas have been issued by al-Maqdisi.

Who knows why the F-16 crashed. You might remember how Saddam claimed the downing of an Apache helicopter by a farmer using his British made 100 year old rifle in 2003…

Keep in mind that the US Air Force is – in the view of the jihadis – an element of oppression and tyranny. The presence of US troops in Saudi Arabia and its Air Force bases is one reason why the House Al Saud has been declared as a gang of traitors; from Saudi Arabia most operations are undertaken against the “innocent and weak” muslims, who are unable to defend themselves against the air strikes. Many comparisons have been made, take for example carpet bombings and terror attacks: both kill “combatants and non-combatants.” The West as technological advanced has been accepted, but propaganda such as this video, is used to show that the resistance of al-Qa’ida as a global resistance against the democratic West can work – an important recruitment tool.

Another video by al-furqan shows the destruction of a Humvee. A speech held by Usama bin Laden is used as a short introduction, hearing him has become rather rare in past months – after that the IED goes off destroying a Humvee passing by.

The IED’s have improved the past months, different manuals and manufacturing videos online in the radical-islamists forums show, that the jihadis have adapted more and more. Not only US military equipment and vehicles have been studied thoroughly and that information is being exchanged daily. Not only the manuals from the 1980 jihad against the Soviets are a basis but these “encyclopedias” have been updated over time and still are subject to change. [I will post some more info soon]

Something new with these videos: the assailants move in to collect and documente their “booty” – something the mujahidin are always very proud of and which has fundamental religious reasons. All the belongings of the killed soldier, including parts of his foot are displayed here. “Limbs of the heretic crusader along with his memories.”

A new video (went online about 2 weeks ago) shows the obliteration of a Humvee in the al-Anbar province (Haditha).

A new development is that after the attack, the camera-crew moves in to thorougly tape the effect of the IED. The camera remains at site at all times and then a group of men move in and obviously enjoy the scene, filming bodyparts etc.

The camera is present at all times – filming how US troops move in to sweep the area, while there are gunshots to be heard.

Shortly afterwards, a crowd of bystanders? And assailants inspect the site and “document” the effect of this extremly powerful IED attack.

The al-Furqan Media section claims to have shot down a F-16 jet north of Bagdad – according to Aljazeera. As usual, there is the banner stating “soon, godwilling”: The missing?! (al-mafqud). This is just followed up by some pictures from the forthcoming movie.

This may imply, that they are holding him prisoner – I assume the video will go online either later today or sometime next week. The new thing: Normally the jihadis post a banner stating the “soon, Godwilling” message and then simply post the data when they are done revising it, this time however, pictures have been released in advance. Two of the pictures indicate that OBL and al-Muhajir will get to talk the talk.

The typical picture that strives propaganda: how can one not go and fight for his religion and his people? Children are frequently being shown and “displayed” as to prove the viciousness of the “enemy” and the “war against islam and against muslims.” Most jihad video have the “child-component” in common, spanning even back to the Afghan war against the Soviets and the war in the Balkan region in the mid 90ties.

After the recent videos and claims of having downed Apache and Chinook Helicopters, the Islamic Iraq State today claimed to have shot down a C-130 in Ramadi.

Translation of the statement:

Downing of an crusader aircraft, type C-130 in Ramadi:

Basmalla; praise be to God, the lord of the worlds, salvation and peace be with out prophet Muhammad and with his family and all of his companions.

Through God’s kindness an crusader aircraft, type C-130, was downed in the city of Ramadi – the result was that it was destroyed completely, killing everyone who was inside. This was on Wednesday, 14.2.2007 – God is the praise and power.

These operations are part of the al-Karama (dignity, respect, honor) plan, that has been declared by the Amir al-Mu’minin (leader of the faithfull) Abu Omar al-Baghdadi – may God protect him – the leader of the Islamic Iraq State.

-Honor (pride, glory) belong to God, his prophet and to the believers, but the hypocrites do not know—[End of translation]

No pictures or video is provided and the media didn’t mention anything aswell. If a C-130 was really shot down by radical elements they would have published at least pictures along with the statement – don’t we know how much jihadis love their cameras…

However CNN arabic confirmes the shooting down of several helicopters by the Islamic Iraq State – this has been all over the news in the past 2 weeks and the jihadis seem very proud that their name Islamic Iraq State is being stated in the arabic CNN report.

Well, yesterday, another al-Furqan video went online showing the attack on a Humvee. This nightoperation is one roadside bombing more. The reason I’am posting this is because of what a member wrote as a reply to the attack (yes, links of the video are at the end of this post):

The al-Furqan media divison released a video today showing the roadsidebombing of a fuel-tanker in the vicinity of Baghdad. The video is not unusual but rare.

Some time last year, the Ansar as-Sunna released a video entitled “the Sword to cut the veins of the unbeliever” (al-battar li-qata’ sharaiyin al-kuffar) – which aims at destroying the fueltrucks and other supply lines. Regulary we find videos on the internet, especially from the Ansar as-Sunna, where trucks carrying 4×4 or Humvee vehicles are systematically aimed at or bombed by roadside explosives or are coming under fire by RPG assaults.

Unfortunately the outcome is devastating, of course it is hard to assess the actual damage done, but the quantity of filmed material is overwhelming – and the jihadi propagande is doing its part too. Some stills (Ansar as-Sunna):

Bemerkenswert, wie sich die Dschihadis im Irak anpassen – laut einem Internet-Forum ist ihr nächstes Ziel DHL und größere Transportmaschinen abzuschießen.

Hubschrauber, vor allem Apache Kampfhubschrauber werden immer wieder in der Dschihad-Literatur als die Waffe der Vereinigten Staaten angeführt, mit dem diese “Kreuzfahrer” die Unschuldigen Muslime unterjochen und töten. Die Entführung des amerikanischen Flugzeugingenieurs Paul Johnson (2004-Saudi Arabien) war kein Zufall, Johnson war ein Ingenieur, der für die US Armee arbeitete und war für die Wartung und Weiterentwicklung der Apaches verantwortlich.

Es ist nicht der erste Abschuß eines US Hubschraubers, aber es ist das erste Mal das der gesamte Vorfall gefilmt, bzw. Veröffentlicht wurde. Al-Furqan ist die Medien-Abteilung des “islamischen Staates Irak” und ein Zweig der as-Sahab Medien Abteilung, der Globalen Islamischen Medien Front.

Anmerkung zum “Upgrade des Know-Hows der Mudschahidin”: Bereits mitte 2004 gab es ein Online-Handbuch der al-Qa’ida (daurat at-tanfidh wa-harb al-asabat – “Handlungsanleitung und Guerrilla-Krieg”) in dem z.B. geschildert wird wie Auto-Konvois organisiert werden und wo sich Schwachstellen befinden. Was wir heute erleben ist ein weiterer logischer Schritt, seit ca. 1 Jahr experimentieren die Dschihadis mit Raketen, zuletzt gab es ein Video das die Herstellung und den Abschuss aufzeigt.
