They day the jihadis stopped loving Aljazeera

What happens when Aljazeera only airs a part of the new UBL tape? The Jihadis get upset. Judge for yourself – Aljazeera aired parts of the audio message “to our people in Iraq” interrupting from time to time to comment on what the UBL just said – we all know the theme from the western media.

That’s the way it was aired on Aljazeera – with the news anchorman popping in here and there – as usual I downloaded the ‘Aljazeera piece’ from one of the jihadi forums.

Just a few hours later, literally all of the forums had been overrun by anti-Aljazeera posts, declaring that channel being a “crusader channel” etc etc. I do not want to comment further on the issue and just put some pic’s up here.

“Why the falsification?” “The Opinion and concealing the opinion of others” – Aljazeera’s motto is “Opinion and the opinion of others”

Here we go again – just image the page long postings to the pictures.

Minbar at-tawhid wa-l-jihad

There is one website on the Internet that has been there for years. Sometimes down, but mostly up, active and running well, it serves as a databank for nearly all the jihad literature one can find on the net. Sorted by author or searchable by any keyword or just browse it by – for example – choosing sawt al-jihad and you can go through most of the hosted articles. That databank is now available as a offline databank, simply download the 500 MB package (with outstanding 300 kb/s) and start the .exe file.

The start page – choose your field or simply search the database

For example Nasir b. Hamd al-Fahd – the infamous author of a fatwa that legitimises the use of weapons of mass destruction against infidels and who compares the use of catapults at the time of Muhammad and the deployment of carpetbombings by the USAF, who kill reluctantly, as reason enough to make use of these WMD in any Western city.

Now all of that is available offline – you can either read the documents in the window of the program,

Choose your chapter, or ‘save’ the WORD document and read it on your widescreen.

The thing with Adobe…

It’s nothing new, that the Adobe products are widely used among the ansar al-jihad, or whoever has an online account and knows where to find the online forums. Almost periodically the jihadis post new pdf handbook files how to use Photoshop, one of the first handbooks I have discovered so far was as early as 2003 when the al-Qa’ida cell in Saudi Arabia started to operate (and produce a lot of media files, inlcuding the Voice of Jihad, which became the layout and ideological guideline and is naturally also equipped with pictures, covers – like every professional magazine).

Not suprisingly therefore is:

5 Word to express everything needed for data processing for the internet: adobe.

Please forgive that I cannot provide my humble readers with any download links – other than the jihadi content, Adobe does have a copyright.

Let’s go nuclear… again: the N-Files

From the Jihad Media Brigade… posted on 21.04.2007 in the al-nusra forum

(note that one arabic handbook is a translation of the U.S. Army Survival Handbook and another one is a translation of a civil defense document of the canadian government.)

“The dangers of nuclear [fallout].. taking shelter and the means of being safe”

This data went online about 2 weeks ago in the usual forums – it was linked to the usual file-hosting servers where a 7.5mb rar file waited for its download, which included 3 documents and a mht file with the english title “11 Steps to Nuclear War Fallout Survival.”

Document no1:

“The remainder (the life) under extreme conditions”: a 329 page strong pdf (which I will go through very briefly).

In the foreword we find the following: “What you have in your hands is a translation of the book ‘us army SURVIVAL MANUAL'” – hence the chapters such as “Psycgological [effects] when [living under] extreme conditions – making fire – getting water – obtaining food – using plants etc”. Taking a look into the english original version will give you what the jihadis are – once again – using to train, or at least to inspire their fellow mujahidin.

Doc. No.2: (just) a 33 page strong Word-document, which again, I will go through very briefly (sorry, but it’s a time issue).

“The dangers of nuclear [fallout].. taking shelter and the means of being safe” – the same title as the posting in the forum, here is a cover of the Jihad Media Brigade:

“in this little booklet we present you – with the support of God and if he wills – in a simple résumé about the danger of nuclear radiation” which may be used in any war and the foreword goes on about the use and danger of uranium.

“The Jihad Media Brigade brings you usefull information in a special report about this very important topic for any time and any place, when the enemy doesn’t believe his [own] evilness and have a hidden hatred [in a sense of: having always hated] against the islamic umma (…).

what else awaits the curious reader in this “booklet”?

the nuclear armament (page 10-13)

the radiation and its exit/effect (13-18)

the atomic bomb (18-25)

taking shelter and the means of protection (25-18)

important information for you in the case of wars (yes, it is the plural 28-32)

Doc. No3: “11 Steps to take shelter [in case of] the nuclear war”

And we all want to know what these 11 steps include (note that the cover says that this is “a special translation” by the Jihad Media Brigade):

  1. Knowing about the dangers of the nuclear explosion
  2. Knowing the facts (atomic dust)
  3. Knowing the warning signs and being in posession of battery-powered radio devices
  4. Knowing how to take shelter
  5. Storing supplies for 14 days
  6. Knowing how to avoid fire and methods to extinguis fires
  7. Knowing how apply first aid
  8. Knowing the proper steps to undertake in case of emergency
  9. Knowing how to discard atomic dust
  10. Knowing the national plan and the national strategy [of your country]
  11. Taking [necessary] steps for you and your family

Effects of an atomic blast (feels like the 1950s?)

Some pictures showing the effect on the human body and how to treat broken bones and such.

The mysterious mht-file – the source of the arabic documents

Finally there is the mht-file – a doubleclick leads to the browser opening the data, entitled “11 Steps to Nuclear War Fallout Survival” by:Canada Emergency Measures Organization

Department of National Defence

Blueprint for Survival No. 4

This data has been translated by the jihadis into arabic and the pictures were used (and the text also translated).

This just proves another point of counter-counter-terrorism: civil-defence public awareness documents also are being used to gain intelligence and knowledge.

The ultimative security encyclopedia

What looks to be a movie advertisement from the 80ties is actually the cover of “the encyclopedia of comprising security”. The 118 page strong document is the work of the Jihad Media Brigade, which is a group that has merged with others in order to publish this encyclopedia. The Jihad Media Brigade is just another internet group fabricating movies etc. – as they state, they are just the followers of other jihad groups and – naturally – all of these groups are unified “under the banner of Jihad. We ask God that he may keep all of our brothers, the mujahidin, unified under one banner.”

To take a look at the table of contents:

  1. Security in Quran and Sira
  2. Duty to remain confidentially and secrecy
  3. Computer and Internet security
  4. Data and information security
  5. Secure Phonelines [or connections in general]
  6. Safe handling Weapons and safety measures in the guerilla war
  7. Safety precautions in regard of espionage and intelligence services
  8. Security concerns for the imprisoned and interrogated [meaning being tortured coerced to confess – let’s call it the ibn as-sheikh al-libi phenomenon]
  9. Fatwas [it’s gotta be legal]
  10. Transmissions and conspiciousness [perhabs describing the detection of transfering data and such – will read into the chapter, time allowing]
  11. Seal [last chapter]

Sounds very promising, the jihadis are still trying hard to get more supporters online, and they may be succeding at doing so.

From al-Maqdisi’s Fatwa Collection

The question issued for al-Maqdisi is the following:

“Is it permissible for me to attend the khutba [prayer] of an appointed imam in one of the mosques which are in Egypt and what are the exact (legal) requirements for this attendance?

What does al-Maqdisi have to say about this?

He does answer “the brother” but first of all refers to his writing, which already has dealt with such a question. This is a series called the “removing the cover from the concealed sharia” – a bit complicated, but it means basically that he is the one who – as a legal “scholar” – makes it clear in his writings about the sharia, the legal rulings and implementations of God, derived from Quran and Sunna, what is permissible and what isn’t.

He goes on stating: “so we, my honest brother, generally despise the acts of such apostate governments, but we do not condem all of them [refering to people who carry out the acts of the gov’s] or declare all of them to be non-believers, furthermore one should regard [the indivuduals in their] function.

-It’s a double-talk thing: do not condem all the Imams, or governmental employed people in the arab countries, as not all of them “have been supporters of the idols (meaninig the governments) or the rulings upon them, which do not inlcude the sharia. But who is an “apostate” and who isn’t? The rhetorik of al-Maqdisis is clear, support the religion and even attend the mass in the state owned mosques, so one can fulfill his religious duty – but “in some of the countries, in which the imam is not in charge and he is in his function, as there is a [secular] division, to respect and follow the laws and duties of the idol (meaning the government), this idol [and these laws] are present in our country.

-the idol, at-taghut: taghut describes a tyrannical leader, or leadership, oppressing the “muslims” and denies “Islam”. It is a quranical term and bears a wide concept behind this term. For example, the al-Qa’ida on the Arabian Peninsula and the Voice of Jihad in general have introduced the taghut and made it widespread. On the Arabian Peninsula, taghut primarily is used for the saudi regime, who are “muslims” only on paper, according to the jihadis, and use “Islam” as an excuse to remain in power while they are backstabing the “muslims”. The concept of taghut has become a normal thing in the jihad literature, basically everything and everyone could be titled taghut: those who do not follow the “true teachings” etc, or use lies to remain in power, etc, the list is long.

So the original question is being redrawn by al-Maqdisi, who asks: “Is it permissible as an Imam to act or take side for the worldy rule [meaning secularity] (…) ?

And to conlcude: “the truth of this standing is that this imam is closer to wordly affairs and furthermore is closest to the taghut, who sets himself next to God and justifies the unbeliev in the islamic religion”

Basically, according to al-Maqdisi, all the Imams in Egypt are to be regarded as traitors of faith, as they support the taghut, and are furthermore apostates, as they are traitors of Islam.

A note, the website (www.tawhed.ws), a huge radical library, seems to be down at the moment, so lets hope it stays down!

Collection of al-Maqdisi’s fatwas – as PDF

Just a short update – due to a load of work and technical difficulties, onlinejihad.worpdress will be – hopefully – updated this weekend.

Al-Maqdisi is a prominent figure in the ideological battle, on his website there are thousands and tons of pdf and word documents to be downloaded and are widespread throughout the internet. Imprisoned in Jordan, he is not only the mentor of Zarqawi and a Afghanistan veteran, but one of the most important voices online.

The Fatwa-collection, version 1, is a 137 page strong PDF document, containing different “questions of the people of the peninsula”.

A short overview, for example: “usefull answers in regard of participating in parlament and parlamentary elections”, or “differenciating the takfir (disbeliev, apostasy) of the soldiers of the idol” or “the infidel goverments up to the cleansing progress”, sounds promising.

Expect some forthcoming translations, excerpts or summaries of some of the fatwas at the end of the week, together with some new information from the ‘video section’.

The official spokesman of the Islamic State of Iraq, bzw. Information Ministry of the Islamic Iraq State / The news report xx-xx-2006 genannt.
